ËDB Pro Editor
ËDß Pro Editor
The Free Browser Code Editor Built for Speed, Privacy, and
Control
By EarthsDB
If you've ever
needed to quickly format a JSON payload, sanity-check a script, or edit a
config file without opening a full IDE — you know the friction of hunting down
a tool that's fast, trustworthy, and doesn't demand an account. ËDß Pro Editor
was built to close that gap: a free, full-screen code and text editor that runs
entirely in your browser, with the formatting, validation, and file tools
developers actually reach for every day.
This document
covers what it does, who it's for, how to use it, and the technical/privacy
details worth knowing before you rely on it for real work.

4. Supported Languages & Features
1. What Is ËDß Pro Editor?
ËDß Pro Editor
is a free, browser-based code and text editor from EarthsDB. It runs as a
single self-contained web app — no install, no sign-up, no server round-trip
required to edit your work. Open it in a browser tab and you have a
full-screen, syntax-highlighted editor with formatting, validation, live
preview, and real local file saving.
It's built for
the “I just need to edit this right now” moment: a JSON config, an HTML
snippet, a Python script, a Markdown draft — without launching a heavyweight
IDE or trusting a random online tool with sensitive text.
2. Key Benefits
•
Zero install, zero account — open a tab and start
typing.
•
Real local file saving — not just downloads. On
supported browsers, ËDß Pro saves directly back to a file on your computer and
keeps overwriting it, like a native editor.
•
Multi-language support in one buffer — JSON, HTML, CSS,
JavaScript, Python, SQL, Markdown, and plain text, with instant mode switching.
•
Built-in formatting & validation — one click (or
Ctrl+Shift+F) to pretty-print code, plus dedicated JSON and EarthsDB schema
validation.
•
Safe live preview — render HTML and Markdown output
inline, sanitized by DOMPurify before it hits the preview frame.
•
Sandboxed JavaScript execution — run JS and see console
output without it touching the rest of the page.
•
Optional encryption — save to browser storage with
AES-256-GCM encryption behind a passphrase you set.
•
Built-in security scanning — a quick “Danger Scan”
flags common risky patterns before you ship code elsewhere.
•
Accessible and keyboard-friendly — proper focus states,
ARIA labeling, and full keyboard shortcuts.
•
Free — no tiers, no paywalled features.
3. Who It's For
•
Developers who want a fast scratch editor for JSON,
config files, or quick scripts without opening a full IDE.
•
Data/content teams working with structured JSON
(EarthsDB profiles, API payloads, etc.) who need quick formatting and schema
validation.
•
Writers and note-takers who want a distraction-free,
full-screen Markdown or plain-text editor.
•
Students and learners experimenting with HTML/CSS/JS
who want instant, sandboxed preview and output.
•
Anyone who needs to edit or validate a file locally
without uploading it to a third-party service first.

5. How to Use It
Getting Started
•
Open ËDß Pro Editor in your browser.
•
Pick a language mode from the mode bar (JSON, HTML,
CSS, JS, Python, SQL, MD, or Text).
•
Start typing, paste in existing content, or load one of
the built-in JSON templates from the command drawer.
The Command Drawer
Tap the +
button in the bottom-right corner to open the full command menu, grouped into:
•
File — Local Disk: Save to Disk, Save As…, Open from
Disk
•
Browser Storage: Quick Save / Quick Load
•
Edit: Format, Wrap, Spell check, Copy All, Clear, Stats
•
JSON Templates: Plant, Food, Animal, Freya, plus
Validate JSON / Validate Schema
•
Run: Sandboxed JS execution, Danger Scan
•
Settings: Autosave, Safe Preview, Encrypt Saves, Word
Wrap, Line Numbers, Active-line highlight
Saving Your Work
•
Ctrl/Cmd + S — Save to Disk. First save prompts you to
choose a file; every save after that overwrites the same file automatically (on
supported browsers).
•
Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + S — Save As…, to pick a new file or
location.
•
Browsers without native file-save support (Firefox,
Safari) automatically fall back to a standard download — you'll see a status
message confirming this.

Click ⌘ Preview to render HTML or Markdown. Toggle
“Safe Preview” in Settings to sandbox scripts out of the render.
•
Use ▶ Run JS (Sandboxed) from the drawer to execute
JavaScript and see console output in the Output panel.
6. Where to Find It
ËDß Pro Editor
is hosted at:
Live App URL:
No download or
installation is required — it runs directly in any modern desktop or mobile
browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari). For the best experience — including
the ability to save directly back to a file on disk — use a Chromium-based
browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera).
7. Privacy & Data Handling
ËDß Pro Editor
is designed to be local-first:
•
Your content stays on your device by default. Text you
type is held in your browser's memory and, if you choose, written to a file on
your own computer or to your browser's local storage. It is not transmitted to
EarthsDB servers as part of normal editing.
•
Browser storage is per-device. “Quick Save” and
autosave write to your browser's localStorage, which is local to that browser
profile on that device — it is not synced or shared.
•
Optional encryption. If you enable “Encrypt Saves,”
your browser-stored content is encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a passphrase
you choose. That passphrase is kept only in memory for your current session and
is never sent anywhere.
•
Third-party resources. The editor loads its underlying
libraries (CodeMirror, DOMPurify, etc.) from public CDNs (cdnjs, jsdelivr) and
fonts from Google Fonts. Loading these involves standard network requests to
those providers, subject to their own privacy practices.
•
No account, no tracking of your document content. There
is no login system, and your edited content itself is not collected by EarthsDB
as part of the editor's normal operation.

details on data collection, cookies, analytics, and your rights, see our

8. Security Notes
•
Sandboxed execution. JavaScript run through “Run JS
(Sandboxed)” executes inside an isolated iframe with
sandbox="allow-scripts" only — it cannot access the parent page, your
cookies, or local storage.
•
Preview sandboxing. “Safe Preview” sanitizes
HTML/Markdown before rendering and never grants the preview frame same-origin
access. “Unsafe” preview allows full script execution for testing purposes, but
still runs in a frame without cross-origin access back into the editor.
•
Danger Scan is advisory, not a guarantee. It checks for
common risky patterns (eval(), inline event handlers, etc.) as a quick sanity
check — it is not a substitute for a full security review of any code you plan
to deploy.
•
Encryption is client-side only. Passphrases and keys
never leave your browser session.
9. Frequently Asked Questions
Is it really free?
Yes — no paid
tiers, no feature paywalls.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Open it and
start working.
Where is my file actually stored when I hit
Save?
On supported
browsers, directly to the file location you choose on your own device. On
browsers without that support, it downloads as a file to your default downloads
folder.
Can I use it offline?
Once the page
and its resources are loaded, most editing, formatting, and validation features
work without a live connection. Loading the app itself, and its
fonts/libraries, does require an initial connection.
What happens if my browser crashes
mid-edit?
If autosave is
enabled, ËDß Pro can recover your last autosaved version the next time you open
it in that browser — but only if you haven't already started typing something
new in that session.
Is my data shared with EarthsDB or anyone
else?
No — see the
Privacy & Data Handling section above and the full Privacy Policy linked
there.
